Preventative policing is an historical, if not the very first principal of policing. As the developers of PC C.O.P.S. TM we realized the potential of marrying technology to a traditional aspect of policing. Community contact and communications important as it is, is difficult, labour intensive, and time consuming. Police forces in the U.S. began to utilize outbound dialing systems in 1984, to contact a variety of community groups and organizations. We began our marketing of this ability at the same time, with simple AutoDial computers. We supplied several of these units until 1986. As the early PC - XT entered the market, and digital recording of the human voice became possible, we commenced program design and development of PC C.O.P.S. TM. This new technology presented us with the opportunity to combine in a PC a database designed to store members of various groups, and digital capabilities to record, store and run outbound voice messaging, to specific groups, on a timely basis. Our PC C.ommunity O.rganizational and P.revention S.ystem, developed in 1986, is a proven solution to several problems of managing police to community communications. PC C.O.P.S. TM became a registered, and licensed trademark in 1986, representing the first police to community communication program available in Canada. The Crime Prevention office - 2-3 members managing 20+ community based policing programs, are busy places! Each one of these programs consists of hundreds of members. Programs such as Block or Neighborhood Watch, Block Parent, Business and Residential Crime Prevention, are successful, and membership increases. The key to growing any Community Based Policing program is communications! PC C.O.P.S. TM is a system for disseminating information from the Community Services or Crime Prevention Office (CPO) to the Community by telephone. Utilizing sophisticated user-friendly, operator controllable software, the CPO uses PC C.O.P.S. TM to administer, communicate and manage all aspects of their community programs.PC C.O.P.S. TM consists of four main components. These include the custom database, the FAXBlastmodule, the MAILMerge module, and the VOICEBlast module. The Database is what makes the system unique to your community. The program was developed in response to the problem of administering crime prevention programs. JCR&A, has been providing specialized voice processing solutions to a rapidly growing number of clients since 1984. Our experience in the design and implementation of systems for school boards, police departments, and utilities, as well as companies and clients in the private sector is extensive. Some of our voice processing solutions have not even been thought of as little as two years ago. This ever-changing environment continually demands the creation of new software. We are so impressed with The Communicator!TM, that we have teamed up with DCC, to help make their technology available to your Canadian operation. Our PC C.O.P.S. TM program is now available to run on DCC's The Communicator TM , and we are working to present this systems new technical features to our Canadian clients.
